Driving my father back to his retirement home after his birthday party, I very nearly ran into the back of a car at a roundabout. Two things saved me from crashing - - I'm a left-foot braker so the time it takes me to stand on the brake pedal is less than if I only used my right foot.
- I thought the car ahead of me had gone so I was looking out to the right for a gap in the traffic, my dad gasped and as I heard that noise I flicked my eyes to the left, saw the stationary car, and applied the brakes hard. You can hear the front tyres slide little.
