On Monday, May 6, Meghan Markle gave birth to her first child with husband Prince Harry . The pair welcomed a son and proudly showed him off to the world two days later, on May 8, 2019. His name, they revealed, is Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. And this announcement caused quite the stir among royal fans - with some making jokes and others finding the name adorable. There has also been great speculation from many about the meaning behind the baby's name and the couple's reason for selecting it. While there have been plenty of bizarre theories on this, the latest to emerge is actually quite sweet. A number of fans on social media pointed out that the child's middle name, Harrison, is a tribute to his father as it quite literally means 'Harry's son'. So subsequently they believe that his first name must be a tribute to his mum. And they've got a pretty interesting explanation as to why. In case you didn't know, the Duchess of Sussex's real name isn't Meghan, it's Rachel. Meghan is in fact her middle name, but she chose to adopt it professionally while working as an actress. As Twitter users have noticed, the name Archie is very close to Rachel, with some going as far as to suggest that the baby's name is actually an anagram of his mother's name. One person said: "I think I have cracked the code; Archie is the anagram for Rachel, the i replaced the l." Another commented: "Meghan's real name is Rachel and Archie is a very close anagram of her name... so he really is Rachel and Harry's son." A third added: "The name Archie is in 'Rachel' as in Rachel Meghan Markle and 'Harrison' as in Harry's son. He was named after his parents. That's how they cam about naming baby Sussex." Others have suggested that the name Archie was inspired by Meghan's childhood love of the Archie comics. An ex-pal of the former actress told the Sun that the 37-year-old used to collect the comics with her dad and was "obsessed" with them - even going as far as to reportedly name a pet cat after the redheaded protagonist, Archie Andrews. They said: "She would spend her weekends going to vintage stores to buy the comics. "This could be a little nod to her dad. It was him who instilled that hobby into her, that was their activity together. He would driver her around and also surprise her with vintage volumes. "She had at least 100. This may be a way to reach out to her dad, even after all that's happened." The royal couple also met a young boy named Archie on the Auckland leg of their royal tour last October. The schoolboy, named Archie Somerville-Ryan told Channel 5 news that Harry had said he liked his name and called Meghan over to share it with her. He recalls: "[Harry] said, 'I like that name' or something like that [to Meghan]'. My mum said, 'Imagine if they call it Archie'."
