We will continue accepting contributions from politicians: Baringo NCCK officials
Baringo County National Council Churches of Kenya (NCCK) officials have dismissed claims by a section of political leaders that churches may be receiving proceeds of corruption from politicians, insisted that they will continue welcoming their contribution to support the church.

They said that political leaders were members of different churches and it should not raise eyebrows when they participate in supporting the church through contributions and tithing.

The clerics led by Baringo branch NCCK chair bishop Musa Kamuren of the Anglican Church said it was in order for leaders to donate money to the church.

“I think some politicians are taking the joke too far. I don’t see any wrong when a politician donates money to the church because they are also members of a particular church. It will only be a matter of contention if leaders contribute money to advance their political bids and other vested interests,” said Bishop Kamuren.

“We need support to spur the growth of the churches in the country and for that matter we will continue receiving donations from political leaders so long as it is geared towards supporting the ministry of God and not advancing other agendas,” he added.

The seventh Day Adventist cleric Paul Cherogony said the church has no capacity to determine the proceeds of corruption when guests give out their donations.
