About Facilities & Maintenance Division:

Our Facilities Maintenance Division maintains more than 25 miles of boulevards and manages many facilities, including: 26 community centers, 8 indoor swimming pools, 2 outdoor (summer) swimming pools, 4 environmental education centers, 2 small craft centers, 4 golf courses, an outdoor stadium, and much more.


We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the Equipment Maintenance Crew Chief position. The Equipment Maintenance Crew Chief, under general supervision, supervises Senior Grounds Equipment Mechanics and Grounds Equipment Mechanic in the repair of general grounds and facility maintenance equipment such as small gas-powered engines and hand tools, mowers, tractors, refrigerators, pressure washers, pumps or similar equipment. Knowledge of welding, maintenance and repair of small engines, and principles and practices of supervision is required.

Job Responsibilities
Reviews defective equipment reports and sets priorities for job assignments
Inspects job sites to estimate costs and compiles material lists; locates sources for unusual equipment or parts
Prepares and submits daily crew work schedules, assignments and time sheets, sick leave and vacation requests of subordinate employees
Reviews plans for new Equipment Maintenance facilities and modifications of existing facilities and offers comments/suggestions for improvement
Coordinates with other crafts for assistance and schedules jobs accordingly
Contacts and dispatches personnel to service calls
Requisitions materials supplies and equipment
Reports to departments the status of their repaired equipment
Prepares equipment repair orders and assigns work to subordinates; reviews and signs off on employees completed work
Maintains routine reports, tracking logs, memos and letters
Assists work crews in completing maintenance and repairs
Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

Two years journey-level experience in general equipment maintenance or small engine repair, or two years experience as a Senior Grounds Equipment Mechanic or an equivalent position; (or a combination of education and or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with work order/asset management software
Completion of emissions quality/reduction training or certification program
Experience performing equipment repair in a large-scale/commercial setting
Prior experience managing a team of skilled trade workers including supervision, scheduling, coordination of work and training
Experience preparing cost estimates for labor, materials, supplies
Budget management experience
Shared fleet management experience
Hazmat mitigation experience, HAZWOPER certification
General facility maintenance and management
