As you may or may not know, I'm a fan of the quirkier Fortnite challenges. I get tired of having to land at various Named Locations, or search chests hither and thither. I enjoy more unique stuff like Search Between challenges or Treasure Maps.
More than anything, I enjoy when a week of challenges has a nice variety between combat challenges and other stuff. It keeps the game fresh and interesting, and the Battle Pass a nice mix of different kinds of challenges. This has always one thing that's made Fortnite's Battle Pass unique.
Alas, this week is pretty bland overall. Here's what the leaked challenges for Season 9, Week 6 will probably be, though leaks are always subject to change.
Week 6 Challenges
FREE PASS CHALLENGES:
Stage 1 of 5: Land at Lucky Landing 1 Battle Star
Stage 2: Land at Loot Lake 1 Battle Star
Stage 3: Land at Shifty Shafts 1 Battle Star
Stage 4: Land at Frosty Flights 1 Battle Star
Stage 5: Land at Haunted Hills
Deal damage with SMGs to opponents (0/500) 5 Battle Stars
Stage 1 of 3: Search ammo boxes at a Hot Spot 3 Battle Stars
Stage 2: Search ammo boxes at a Hot Spot 3 Battle Stars
Stage 3: Elimination at a Hot Spot 4 Battle Stars
BATTLE PASS CHALLENGES:
Deal damage to a vehicle driven by an opponent (0/200) 5 Battle Stars
Use a Storm Flip in different matches (0/3) 5 Battle Stars
Use different vehicles in a single match (0/2) 10 Battle Stars
Eliminate opponents in The Block or Fatal Fields (0/3) 10 Battle Stars
So . . . yeah, pretty boring. Searching chests and landing places. Driving two vehicles in a single match apparently nets you 10 Battle Stars for some reason despite being one of the easiest challenges I've ever seen.
I'd like it if Epic utilized more of the map, having us explore for hidden Battle Stars in places where the map has changed recently, like the Stone Giants' new farm or the recently destroyed house in Snobby Shores. If one purpose of these challenges is to get players to explore (hence landing at Named Locations other than just the popular spots, or getting players to explore the new Hot Spots) shouldn't more of these types of scavenger hunt or search between challenges make their way into the weekly rotation? C'est la vie.
The challenges for this week are quite easy to complete, but we will be releasing the Cheat Sheet as soon as it is available. Once you have completed any four challenges for this week, you will be awarded with 6,000 XP and completing six of this weeks challenges will award you with a Fortbyte.
