Analysis : Compared to Su-57, it seems like Turkey is more appropriate to acquire Su-35! Turkey could decide not to buy Russian Su-57 stealth warplanes, following its expulsion from the US F-35's advanced fighter program for buying Russian S-400 missile systems, wrote an analysis from The National Interest.

Sukhoi Su-57, Russia's fifth generation stealth fighter to be launched soon, has emerged in recent months as a pioneer in the field of Russian exports to Turkey, along with the Su-35S.

On Tuesday, Lockheed Martin said it was still receiving parts for F-35 stealth warplanes, even though the US removed Turkey from its production process in July, when Ankara began accepting Russian S-400 system shipments. The Pentagon estimates that Turkey will be completely out of the program by March 2020, according to Investors' Business Daily.

"The Russian defense industry is aggressively targeting Turkey as a mature candidate for Su-57, with Russian President Vladimir Putin even personally submitting an export version of Su-57 to Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the MAKS 2019 Airshow, Episkopos wrote in The National Interest.

Episkopos sees two clear concerns for Ankara: first, the Su-57 will never be able to replace the F-35 because both fighters are designed for different purposes, and secondly, it is not clear that Russia can produce Su-57 in sufficient quantities to Turkey.

According to Eskisopo there will be a risk for the first country to buy a fighter without a record of performance.

The Su-35S has a lot of Su-57 DNA, even though it is an old fighter and not a stealth fighter jet, there is a proven export track record and better prices.

"Although Ankara continues to issue various statements, Turkey's defense industry has at least expressed initial interest in the Su-35 as a temporary solution until Turkey's fifth generation 'TF-X' fighter is ready to enter production," Episkopos said, citing a recent statement from the minister Turkish defense.
