Automated Well Tank Handling System with FANUC R-2000iC Robot - Motion Controls Robotics

Automated Well Tank Handling System with FANUC R-2000iC Robot - Motion Controls Robotics Motion Controls Robotics, an authorized system integrator, developed a robotic system for a well tank manufacturer to improve a manual process more consistent and efficient.

This robotic system picks and places multiple sized well tanks onto a moving, overhead conveyor, after being coated with a thin strong filament layer.
Once the filament is added, tanks cannot be handled until the filament is cured in an oven.
An operator moves a cart containing the tanks from the filament winder to the robot cell. The robot then picks the tanks off the cart and places them onto an overhead conveyor using a trigger sensor and FANUC’s Line Tracking software. The tanks then move into an oven to set the filament – the conveyor and robot are synced with the oven speed to ensure a smooth, automated process.
Two cart stations inside the robot cell allow the robot to continue picking tanks when one cart is empty. This process is repeated throughout the day on a variety of different size tanks (currently 9 or more models).
