Moscow, 1929. This is the first jazz record made in the Soviet Union. The AMA (Association of Moscow Authors) was a sheet music publishing company that sponsored it's own jazz band to perform the music that they sold. The pianist Alexander Tsfasman (who previously accompanied the hawaiian guitar player John Danker for a series of Muz-Trust recordings) led the group, which was also the first to perform on Russian radio.
This particular pressing is from 1932 or so. Enjoy!
