Chile protests: What prompted the unrest?

Protests in Chile are being described as the worst to hit the country in nearly 30 years.
At least 15 people have been killed since the unrest began five days ago, sparked by an increase in train fares.
A curfew is being imposed and has been broken for a fourth consecutive day.
