How Often Do You Need To Practice? (Hint: Not 10,000 Hours)

How Often Do You Need To Practice? (Hint: Not 10,000 Hours) How many hours should we practice to become really good at our craft? How long to become a professional? What if I told you 10,000 hours isn't the answer.

My perspective on practice changed after I read "Turning Pro" by Steven Pressfield. By the end of this book I found myself rethinking the necessity to quantify the life long journey of practicing. The sooner we understand that the true joy of our journey sit within the our opportunity to embark on the journey itself, the sooner we understand the purpose of practicing to begin with.

When most people consider how many hours it requires to become a pro, you will often hear them mention Malcolm Gladwell's 10,000 hours observation from his book Outliers. The funny thing about that is most people leave out the part where he mentions the 10,000 hours being FOCUSED time spent.

In today's video we break down just how many hours you should dedicate towards practicing your craft and whether it matters at all.
