Step 1: Understand habits - Trigger, Routine, Reward
Step 2: Identify the habit (video games) that you want to use
Step 3: Insert something small in between your trigger and your routine.
- So If your habit is Free time - Video games, then insert reading about coding for 5 minutes right before you play video games.
Step 4: Overtime expand that 5 minutes into 10, and then 15.
Soon you will have conditioned yourself to reward yourself with video games after doing something productive. The more you scale the fewer video games you play and the more productive you are!
