Test flying the starvation event flying-foxes for release

Test flying the starvation event flying-foxes for release During the starvation event in South East Queensland in September 2019, hundreds of starving bats fell out of trees, dead, and some fell out and were still alive. Hundreds of starving bats came into care.
Here are some of the fattened up batties after 2 months' care and rehab, being test flown.

Thanks Mandi for the video footage and for a peek into Stage 1 of the new aviary. If you'd like to donate to the aviary fundraiser, details below.
The aviary construction work is being fitted in between farm work and other commitments, money permitting. The cool room blew up (the motor burst into flame) and it has taken thousands of dollars to fix it, eating into the money the carer had earned for the aviary costs.
The first stage is a flight aviary so there is somewhere to test fly the bats and take overflow, and somewhere to house the bats during the construction of the partitioned aviary (with moveable partitions) for the hospital and rehab bats. And the old dudes.

Tolga Bat Hospital takes donations for the aviary fundraiser.

Mention Megabattie or Meg/Aviary in the PayPal message box and the money will find its way to the aviary building fund.
If no message box appears, please email Jenny to tell her that the money is for the aviary.
IMPORTANT: If you pay through the PayPal Giving Fund which is the preferred method of donating, can you please email Jenny with the amount donated and the name under which you have donated, OR just forward along the PP receipt.
The Giving Fund doesn’t charge any fees (so the bats get more money) but PP doesn’t itemise out the amount, they just send a total every month, and we don’t know if the money is for Tolga or for Mandi's aviary.

Here’s Jenny’s email.
