(535) What If Philosophy Is Pointless?

(535) What If Philosophy Is Pointless? All my life people have been calling me "philosophical." But I was only talking about what I should do in society, how I should live, whether God or Buddha or other supreme being does exist, and if any such thing does exist, what they do, what love actually is, whether love is possible, and so on. To me those issues are just basic issues that even a fool can think about, so they don't deserve to be called philosophical.

But still they keep on calling me philosophical. They don't seem to ever ponder over such matters. All they think seem to be practical issues, such as how they should make a living, how to win people's confidence, how they should raise their children, and so on.

Animals and plants don't seem to be thinking. If they do think, they don't seem to be philosophical. Amoebas and planktons don't seem to be philosophical either. They don't seem to doubt their own worth or ponder about what might exist beyond the space they inhabit. They don't seem to wonder whether the whole universe exists for a reason or purpose.

If most people and all animals and plants lead their lives without philosophizing, then what is the point of philosophizing? Philosophy may then be pointless.
