After a marathon debate that extended for more than six hours, the Rajya Sabha today passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill with 125 MPs voting for and 105 against the Bill. The Bill, which was passed by the Lok Sabha on Monday, will now go to the Rashtrapati Bhavan for President Ram Nath Kovind's assent. Meanwhile, the bill has triggered protests in various states in the Northeast. Curfew has been imposed in Guwahati, while security personnel have been deployed in Tripura to control deteriorating law and order situation.
