3. Transcription hub
This company is not as famous as Rev, GoTranscript, or Speechpad. They have a favorable TAT (Turn Around Time) for transcribers. This would work best for newbies who are not fast in typing. They have different levels of transcribers, these include bronze ($18/audio hour), silver ($24/per audio hour) and gold ($30/audio hour). The higher your rank, the more you earn with transcription hub. Transcription hub files range between 1 minute to 3 hours. Payment is via PayPal and is done monthly.

4. GoTranscript
This is one of our all-time favorite transcription companies. With a flow of good audios, you can be assured to get work and they pay between $0.20-0.50 per audio minute. You also need to be able to submit your work on time, if you run out of time the system automatically takes the job back to the work board. They have a favorable TAT and are always working on improving their website for both the workers and the clients. Audio file length in Gotranscript range between 1 second to 10minutes at most. Payment is made every Friday via PayPal.

5. Speech pad
Speech pad pays between $0.25-$0.40 per audio minute as a newbie. When you get to a particular level you qualify for Rush jobs which pay $0.25-$1.25 per audio minute. The good thing about speech pad is that 80% of their audios are always quite clear. The con is that they are slightly strict, this applies to the tiniest of mistakes, wrong comma, wrong full stop, a sentence in the wrong paragraph. But with determination and hard work, the rush jobs could be yours for the take. You need to have a high typing speed to be able to keep up with their TAT and to be able to submit your work on time, otherwise, your payment will be withheld. Audio file lengths in speech pad vary from 30 seconds to 3 hours+. Payment is made every Friday through PayPal.

6. Scribie.
Scribie is a transcription company that pays between $5 to $20 per audio hour. Customers’ audio files are divided into 6-minute segments. Transcriptionists listen to the segments and transcribe. Turnaround time (TAT) for these audio segments is two hours. Proofreaders, which are drawn from the ranks the best transcribers and reviewers, look over the final product with all the segments put together. It has its perks though, payments of any amount can be made via PayPal at any time.

7. Castings Word.
This is the most newbie friendly website. Their rules are quite simple and straightforward. This is where we encourage new transcriptionist to start from. There pay for newbies is on the lower side but as your rating improves, so does your rank and the payment you also receive.

The best part about these websites is that, once you have a high and a steady rating, you automatically become eligible for an editor position. All you have to do is ace your editor exam. Editors/Reviewers earn more than transcribers and, to me, they get the easy part.
