Cynthia Barcomi was born in Seattle, Washington. She received her diploma with distinction in philosophy and theater studies from Columbia University in New York City. In 1985 she moved to Berlin and began her career as professional dancer. An avid cook and baker since childhood Cynthia opened her first shop – a coffee roastery and bakery in 1994 and has never looked back. In 1997 she opened her second shop, a Deli in Berlin-Mitte and in 2007 published her first baking book. In 2009 Cynthia launched her own bakeware line which is handmade in England. Her seven best-selling baking & cookbooks are inspired by sense-memories, dreams and bridging the cultural gap between classic American cuisine and her love for Germany. In addition, Cynthia is the baking expert on ARD and ZDF and recently was a guest judge on Top Chef. She lives with her husband and four children in Berlin.
