This is how I re-work lamp timer PCBs for a Panasonic ET-LAD60, and ET-LAD12 projector lamps. One of our vendors sent a few dozen that had the Eprom installed backwards on the PCB. This would cause the projector to lock up and become unresponsive due to the power and ground being reversed on the chip. It would pull the 5V to ground. Part of the QC process is to check these.
