Kenya fights for a slot in the United Nation Security Council Did you know that there are 15 Member Nations who form part of the United Nations Security Council. Five of those are Permanent Members- The United States, The United Kingdom, France, Russia and China…..the rest are Non-Permanent Members that serve on a two-year rotation. Africa has three Non-Permanent seats…..Niger and Tunisia will replace Cote D’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea in January 2020, while the third seat, currently occupied by South Africa comes up for replacement in January 2021.
