With Lok Sabha elections just round the corner, Meghalaya has reasons to cheer for as the number of new voters who have touched a record high in the state. Meghalaya CEO FR Kharkongor talking to Northeast Live said that a total of 76,000 new voters have enrolled themselves which takes the percentage of new voters out of the total voters to 4.06 percent.
The CEO further added that the total number of voters in the state has increased to 19 lakh 14 thousand.
Meanwhile, the state election commission in a bid to create an awareness among the voters organised a colourful rally which saw the participation of hundreds of bikes, vintage cars and jeeps.
